Rep.Everton Blair (D-GA) says he is committed to combating affordability and maintaining Black representation for his district after being sworn-in by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on the house floor. Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-GA) speaks on Rep. David Scott (D-GA) who died in April and introduces Blair for his remarks. “My mandate here is clear, I will do everything in my capacity to make life more affordable for the hard working Americans in Georgia’s 13th congressional district,” Blair says. “I’ll also do everything in my capacity to make sure that district maintains its representation and retains the majority Black representation it currently has,” he adds. Blair will serve out the remaining months of late Rep. David Scott’s (D-GA) term after defeating Scott’s daughter, Marcye Scott, in a special election.
