SUOZZI, Thomas (Tom), a Representative from New York; born in Glen Cove, Nassau County, N.Y., August 31, 1962; graduated from Chaminade High School, Mineola, N.Y., 1980; B.S., Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass., 1984; J.D., Fordham University, New York City, N.Y., 1989; certified public accountant; lawyer, private practice; law clerk for Chief Judge of the Eastern District of New York, 1989-1990; Mayor of Glen Cove, N.Y., 1994-2001; Nassau County, N.Y., executive, 2002-2009; unsuccessful candidate for nomination as Governor of New York in 2006; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Fifteenth and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2017-January 3, 2023); was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress in 2022, but was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination for Governor of New York; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Eighteenth Congress, by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the expulsion of United States Representative George Santos (February 13, 2024-present). Rep. Tom Suozzi of New York was sworn into Congress on February 28, 2024.
