Climate Assessment Warns of Daunting Climate Fight

National Climate Assessment brought focus to the threats of climate change.

Climate change will bring “substantial and increasing economic costs” across the United States that will land most heavily on the elderly, children and low-income populations, according to a sweeping federal government update of climate science released Tuesday.

The Fifth National Climate Assessment, a congressionally mandated study compiled every four years by 13 federal agencies, brought sharper focus to the threats climate change poses to the economy, human health, ecosystems, buildings, homes and infrastructure like roads — all of which threaten to exacerbate lingering inequalities.
