GREEN, Mark, a Representative from Tennessee; born in Jacksonville, Duval County, Fla., November 8, 1964; graduated from Monticello High School, Monticello, Miss., 1982; B.S., United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., 1986; M.D., Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio, 1999; United States Army, 1986-2006; medical doctor; business executive; member of the Tennessee state senate, 2013-2019; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Sixteenth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2019-present); chair, Committee on Homeland Security (One Hundred Eighteenth and One Hundred Nineteenth Congresses); lead manager appointed by the House of Representatives in 2024 to conduct the impeachment proceedings of Alejandro N. Mayorkas, United States Secretary of Homeland Security. Rep. Mark Green, R- Tenn., announced his official resignation from Congress after voting for President Donald Trump’s megabill. His resignation will be effective July 20, 2025.
